Dr. Irma Aracely Quispe Neira

La Dra. Irma Aracely Quispe Neira, peruana-estadounidense, nació el 18 de agosto de 1982; es de ascendencia peruana y, a base de perseverancia y tenacidad, logró su sueño de ser la primera mujer latina en dirigir tres misiones exitosas de la NASA como líder de Vuelos y Operaciones Espaciales. Aracely es la segunda de tres hermanas. Es hija de Irma Neira Samamé, una gran educadora peruana.   

La Dra. Aracely Quispe Neira posee un total de siete títulos académicos centrados en la ciencia, la ingeniería astronáutica y la ingeniería de sistemas. Actualmente es líder de Operaciones Espaciales y de Vuelo en la NASA, y se convirtió en la primera mujer latina en comandar tres misiones distintas de la NASA; la Misión de Medición de Lluvias Tropicales, el Orbitador de Reconocimiento Lunar, y actualmente el Telescopio Espacial James Webb, lanzado el 25 de diciembre de 2021.   Aracely es actualmente expositora oficial por la Agencia espacial NASA y el departamento de estado de los EE.UU. Ella también ha conducido una Investigación significativa sobre la desglaciación de los nevados andinos del Perú mediante imágenes satelitales de alta resolución. Su estudio ha ayudado a concientizar en el tema de la desglaciación y sus impactos con el Calentamiento Global. Como profesora en the Capitol Technology University en EE.UU Aracely Quispe utiliza su experiencia previa para educar futuros ingenieros en el área de Ingeniería Astronáutica. Aracely ha recibido numerosos reconocimientos y premios por su activa labor promoviendo carreras científicas entre los jóvenes: por el Congreso de la Republica (Perú), la Agencia Aeroespacial NASA, por el Senado Norte Americano (recientemente), entre otras prestigiosas instituciones. La Administración de NASA ha reconocido a Aracely como una “Profesional que realiza una labor increíble inspirando a los Jóvenes en perseguir carreras STEM”, y en Norteamérica los medios de comunicación la titulan "El viaje de un modelo a seguir de Perú a la NASA”. 


Dr. Irma Aracely Quispe Neira, (Peruvian-American) was born on August 18, 1982. Based on her perseverance and tenacity, achieved her dream of becoming a leader in Space Flights and Operations. She is the first Latin woman to lead three successful NASA missions. Aracely is the second of three sisters and the daughter of Irma Neira Samamé, a great Peruvian educator.  

Dr. Aracely Quispe Neira holds a total of seven academic degrees focused on Science, Astronautical Engineering, and Systems Engineering. She is currently a leader in Space and Flight Operations at NASA, and became the first Latina woman to command three separate NASA missions; the Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, and currently the James Webb Space Telescope, launched on December 25th, 2021.  Dr. Quispe Neira is currently an official exhibitor by the NASA Space Agency and the U.S. Department of State conducted significant research on the deglaciation of the Peruvian Andean snow-capped mountains using high-resolution satellite imagery. Her study has helped raise awareness on the issue of deglaciation and its impacts on Global Warming. As a professor at the Capitol Technology University in the U.S.A. Aracely Quispe uses her previous experience to educate future engineers in the field of Astronautical Engineering. Aracely has received numerous recognitions and awards for her active work promoting scientific careers among young people: by the Congress of the Republic (Peru), the NASA Aerospace Agency, and the North American Senate (recently), among other prestigious institutions. The NASA Administration has recognized Aracely as a "Professional who does incredible work inspiring young people to pursue STEM careers and in North America, the media has titled her "A Role Model's Journey from Peru to NASA."
