but we make a life by what we give."

Dear Friend of the Cradle,
Each year at this time we reach out to ask that you consider a donation to the Cradle as part of your yearend giving plans. We are always mindful that you have many options when it comes to giving and we thank you for your generous support over the past year.
At the Cradle we view our role as an institution to be one that serves to preserve, educate and inspire. It’s our three legged stool and it guides us with every program we develop, every exhibit we create and every child we excite.
Starting in January, 2018 we are embarking on a multi-year program that we hope will serve to inspire. It’s called “Countdown to Apollo at 50” and while it will provide us with a great opportunity to celebrate the first landing on the moon and its many contributions, we also hope that it reenergizes our young visitors to look to the stars again.
The program itself will include a monthly speaker series featuring astronauts, writers, artists and engineers who were influenced by the Apollo program. Many of these lectures will be beamed to schools and children’s hospitals around the country. We’ll open a new exhibit in the summer of 2018 that will look at the past as well as the future of space flight and we’ll be creating a variety of educational programs and competitions for middle and high school students. In addition, we’ll be partnering with Hofstra University on an academic conference and the Buzz Aldrin Space Foundation on Mars mapping program for school children.
Roughly sixty years ago, President Kennedy challenged the nation to go to the moon. That one challenge created the largest concentration of men and women who focused on what we now call S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). We have an opportunity to create a renewed excitement for science and technology by celebrating the accomplishments of the Apollo program and inspiring a new generation of scientists, engineers and astronauts.
Please consider donating whatever you can to support our efforts to preserve, educate and inspire. Thank you and best wishes to you and your family for a happy and healthy holiday season.
