Dear Friend of the Cradle:
At this time of year, we take time to reflect on the past twelve months and to look ahead to the New Year. For the Cradle, 2019 has been one of the most exciting years in the museum’s brief history. Our celebration of the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11’s landing on the moon generated a tremendous amount of exposure for the museum and its mission of preserving the past and inspiring the future.
Our efforts to put a spotlight on the Apollo program and the role Long Island played was rewarded by the amount of media coverage we received from all over the world. With your generous support, we were able to create a series of educational events that were enjoyed by over 70,000 school children throughout the past year. On July 20th over 3,000 visitors counted down to the actual landing at 4:17 pm, one of the most exciting events ever staged at the museum.
It’s through your generous support that the Cradle is able to celebrate our rich aerospace history and use that history to excite a new generation of scientists, engineers, pilots, and astronauts through a variety of S.T.E.M. based learning projects.
Moving forward our efforts don’t end with the Apollo program. We’re excited to expose students to the future of aviation and the space program through companies like Space X and advances being made in all forms of flight. We have also expanded our education programs to include robotics, renewable energy as well as using augmented reality to build a Mars habitat.
Please consider donating whatever you can to support our efforts to preserve, educate and inspire. Thank you and best wishes to you and your family for a happy and healthy holiday season.
