Astronomy and Space Day 2025

The Cradle of Aviation Museum is celebrating Astronomy and Space Day on Wednesday, April 16th, 2025
The Amateur Observer’s Society (AOS) will help us celebrate with solar scopes (weather permitting), talks, and demos!
Astronomy and Telescopes - 12-4 pm, Free with museum admission
Thinking of getting a telescope? Ask the experts! AOS will answer any questions you have about star gazing on Long Island.
Planetarium Shows (separate admission required - just a $7 add-on with your paid museum admission)
Our immersive full-dome planetarium is one of the world's largest and most powerful virtual reality experiences!
Show Schedule:
11:00 am - One World, One Sky: Explore the night sky with your favorite friends from Sesame Street in One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure.
12:00 pm: Cities of the Future: Narrated by John Krasinski, the film combines state-of-the-art CGI with live-action cinematography to glimpse a sustainable future.
1:00 pm - Space Lab: North Sky Stargazing with Tom Lynch: Join us as we embark on a tour of the parts of the night sky we can see all year!
2:00 pm - MAGNETISM Explore how Earth’s magnetic field protects our planet from solar and cosmic radiation—and helps keep our atmosphere in place.
3:00 pm - Unseen Universe: Telescopes help humans explore the universe in ways we have never seen before!
