During the winter recess visitors will have the chance to learn about NASA’s Orion Spacecraft.
NASA’s Orion spacecraft is built to take humans to deep space destinations such as an asteroid and eventually Mars. Orion will serve as the exploration vehicle that will carry the crew to space, provide emergency abort capability, sustain the crew during space travel and provide safe re-entry from deep space.
Activities 12:00-4:00 PM – Free with museum admission (Closed on Dec. 25)
Young space explorers will experiment with different house-hold materials to learn about Orion's heat shield and will create and take home, their own Orion spacecraft.
While you're here, sign your name on our Orion #ImOnBoard banner, then show the world that you support space exploration by sharing a photo on social media with the hashtag #ImOnBoard.
Other fun things to do: Visit www.nasa.gov/imonboard to submit your name and get your boarding pass to fly your name on Orion's future exploration missions allowing you to rack up frequent flier miles as a member of a global space-faring society.
