Kids Can Learn a New Super Power Dec 21-30 at Cradle of Aviation Museum

GARDEN CITY, NY – December 10, 2019 In support of the museum’s mission to inspire future generations to careers in STEM, the Cradle of Aviation Museum is inviting families and superhero fans of all ages to visit the museum between December 21-30, 2019, for hands on STEM activities, movies, contests, and experiences related to superheroes. Visitors are encouraged to show their spirit and wear superhero gear and costumes for a chance to win tickets to Cradle Con 2020.

Young visitors can:
Learn About the Principle of Friction with Spider Man Penny Climbers  
From December 21st through the 30th, between 12-4 pm, families can make Amazing Spider Man Penny Climbers and learn about the principle of friction.

Learn a Super Power – Hands on Science Zones
From December 27th to the 30th between 12-4pm, visitors will be able to explore beyond what their eyes can see with infrared light and heat mapping, perfect for detecting those with the power of invisibility. They can also explore the force of magnetism that protects the Earth and us humans from the Sun’s radiation, protecting mankind.

Watch and Meet at Avengers Night
Watch some of your favorite super heroes visit space for the first time on Saturday, December 28th. The Avengers: Endgame will be playing in regular format in the Cradle of Aviation’s Dome Theater at 3 pm and 8 pm.  In between, from 6-8 pm, visitors can meet and take pictures with some of their favorite Avengers from the non-profit NY Avengers cosplay team. They can come in costume for a quick cosplay contest and a chance to win tickets to Cradle-Con! Separate admission required.

The NY Avengers is a non-profit organization created by a group of Marvel inspired cosplayers for charity events and hospital visits. This past summer, the NY Avengers appeared at Cradle-Con and the historic Apollo at 50 Moon Fest in support of the museum’s mission. Instagram:nyavengers

The Cradle of Aviation Museum and Education Center is home to over 75 planes and spacecraft representing over 100 years of aviation history and Long Island’s only Giant Screen Dome Theater.  Currently, the museum is celebrating “Countdown to Apollo at 50” sponsored by the Robert D.L. Gardiner Foundation, showcasing Long Island and Grumman’s significant role in the Apollo program. The Museum was recently recognized and listed on New York State’s National Register of Historic Places as a significant part of American history.
