The mission of the Cradle of Aviation Museum is twofold: to engage all ages in the exploration of our aerospace heritage by preserving and displaying Long Island’s contribution to air and space travel; and to inspire, motivate, and stimulate our youth to be the next generation of aerospace scientists and engineers. We achieve our mission through our growing exhibit collection and our ever expanding educational programs.
Machine Madness Competition
The Cradle of Aviation Museum invites students in grades 6th thru 8th to join in our Machine Madness competition!
Machine Madness will celebrate the Apollo missions that led to eleven space flights and Astronauts walking on the moon!
Teams of students are asked to build a machine that will launch their own rocket into space! Using engineering, mathematics and teamwork, teams will build their machines at school and then bring them to the museum to compete for prizes on February 3rd.
