Sky Theater Planetarium at the Cradle of Aviation Museum

The Sky Theater Planetarium

COMING SOON!

The Cradle of Aviation is adding an all new emerging technology to its dome theater: a digital Planetarium!

The immersive, digital dome Sky Theater Planetarium — with its state-of-the-art high-resolution projection and sound system — will provide an exciting, entertaining and unparalleled experience that will take you to worlds you’ve never imagined.

This new addition will be driven by computers and processors that treat audiences to realistic close-up views of star fields and planets, taking them on an exhilarating flight through a virtual re-creation of our universe. With access to data on our solar system from NASA and the European Space Agency and a statistical database of more than two billion stars developed by the Museum of Natural History; our theater will take you on a virtual tour of the universe as never seen before.

Guided and Non-Guided planetarium shows will provide an opportunity for Museum-goers to gain a better understanding of the cosmos through visualization and experience. The level of technology and scientific content presented here has never been so readily available to the general public.

With its high-definition system — capable of combining real-time visual simulations with pre-rendered graphics — the Sky Theater Planetarium at the Cradle of Aviation will be one of the largest and most powerful virtual reality simulators in the world, matched only by the supercomputers used by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) or the largest of military research facilities.
