SPACE SHUTTLE ANNIVERSARY
Join us and celebrate the
25th ANNIVERSARY OF STS-1
The first space shuttle flight.
Friday, April 7th at 11am in the Space Gallery
The Cradle of Aviation Museum will celebrate the 25th anniversary of STS-1, the first space shuttle flight on Friday, April 7th at 11am.
Visiting school children will participate in a brief ceremony that will feature Long Islanders who worked on the shuttle program for Grumman and Republic.
The children will then make their own space shuttle to commemorate the event.
Astronauts John Young and Robert Crippen took off on the inaugural flight which took the space program to the next level by using a reusable spacecraft for the first time.
