Come to the Cradle for Reach for the Stars Week and learn all about the stars and why they have fascinated us for thousands of years. Its a week long celebration of the stars and astronomy filled with a variety of fun, family activities:
Eye in the Sky The Hubble Telescope-April 17, 18, 19 & 21 from 12-4pm
Make your own telescope and discover how this amazing technology has brought so many spectacular views of space back to earth.
Creative Constellations April 18 & 20 from 12-4pm
Learn about the stars and all the amazing shapes they create, and then create your own constellation.
StarLab April 17, 19, 20 & 21 from 12-4pm
Crawl into the Cradles own StarLab and see how generations have used the stars to navigate at night.
Astronomy Day Tuesday, April 18th
The Cradle will host the fourth annual Astronomy Day on Tuesday, April 18th. Its a day long celebration of the exciting world of astronomy where families can come and experience the stars through activities with a number of other institutions, schools and astronomy clubs. Last year the Cradle was awarded the Sky and Telescope Astronomy Day Award by the Astronomy Society.
This years organizations include: Long Island Childrens Museum, Long Island Museum of Science and Technology, Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center, Amateur Observers Society of NY, Long Island Space Society, Woodland Middle School in East Meadow, Weber Middle School in Port Washington, Division Avenue High School in Levittown, Lockheed Martin and Charity Begins at Home.
