LM-13, stripped down to its original structure, standing on blocks that position it at the correct tilt that Eagle landed on the moon. Once the Lunar Module is finished, the immediate surrounding area of Tranquility Base will be modelled exactly, with a spacesuited Neil Armstrong at the foot of the ladder.
First test Kapton thermal blankets. The "foil" around much of Eagle was made with 2 mil and 5 mil aluminized Kapton film. As much as possible, the actual materials used on the flight vehicles are being used on LM-13.
Paul Fjeld, the LM-13 spacecraft manager, standing by the landing gear. Fjeld has spent more than 10 years researching the Lunar Module and was a technical advisor on the HBO/Tom Hanks series "From the Earth to the Moon."
