Cradle of Aviation Museum Events and Competitions

We strive to make the Cradle of Aviation Museum the best resource for the community that it can be.  In that light, we are happy to host a growing list of competitions for young people from across Long Island.  Below you will find more information about upcoming events as well as summaries of past events.

Education Calendar 2009-2010

October
10/3 - Game Builders Academy class begins, 12-2 pm Grades 5-12

10/3 - 2nd Annual World Astronomy Day 12:00pm-4:00pm
Provided by the Amateur Observers Society of NY, the day will be filled with several activities including: Solar Telescopes, Starlab Mini Programs and Astronomy Workshops.

10/5-10/9 - Sukkot Rocket Workshops
On the half hour, 11:30am-3:30pm, 30 minute program, free to members, non-members $1 per person plus museum admission.
Rocketry is an important development in modern day science and technology. This workshop will guide visitors through the historic milestones leading to some of the current uses of rockets. Workshop includes demonstrations of basic rocketry and hands on rockets.

11/3 - Hofstra IDEAS Science Teachers Professional Development Day 8:30am-2:30pm

11/12 - IYA Galactic Image Unveiling with Programs for school groups on the science behind the images.

11/14 - IYA Galactic Image- Professional Development day for teachers

11/19 - Conservation and Renewable Energy Day for School Groups
Free education programs on renewable energy offered when Grand Canyon IMAX film is booked.

December
12/5 - Long Island Physics Teacher Professional Development Day

12/19 - Scout Day - Scout Programs may be booked during the week, after school or on selected Scout Days over the weekend.

12/27-30 - Space Explorers Winter vacation Camp
